Koobart is a multi-disciplinary studio specialized in art photography which employs techniques meants to not distort, modify, or alter the shape or the quality of colors of works of art. Our services are intended to meet the needs of artists, art consumers, and muzeums in terms of centralizing and archiving art in digital format in order to conserve their patrimony and promote it internationally.
Taking photographs of a painting represents as much of a critical step in finalizing the work of art as does building the correct frame for it. Just like in the case of framing a painting, taking photos of it requires a real understanding of the work of art and in-depth technical knowledge. With each canvas that passes through our studio, we take a great deal of care to identify the correct lighting based on both the coloring and materials used. We handle canvases painted with: oil, acrylic, mixt technique, aquarelle, gouache.
The artist will never tell his/her whole story from a single angle. He/she seeks to hide details related to their message in some of the least imaginable corners of their piece, thus giving unique meaning to each detail. When engaged in sculpture photography, it is then imperative to seek out those perspectives that credit the complexity of the work in its purest form. It goes without saying that all our sculpture projects then entail a set of shots — as many as are needed to capture the full beauty and complexity of the original piece.
Icons, as a part of Old Romanian Art, are works of art of unmatchable artistic, historical, and documentary value, defining of national spirituality. Its functions are countless, from ornamenting churches, to educating and proselytization, to spiritual comfort. Notable names, including Nicolae Grigorescu, have dedicated part of their creative time to making these venerated objects. We handle icons made out of glass, wood, and silver.
Decorative arts have produced some of the most spectacular creations of mankind by employing its creativity and skill. Most of the objects currently on display in muzeums across the world were orginally crafted towards practical functions. Decorative arts have incorporated, over time, a series of estetitcally antinomic objects and our studio has handled pieces of furniture, ceramics, glass or metal pieces, and textiles.
Working with artefacts requires a great deal of care with these objects often affected by the passing of time. Artefacts photography is often done for archiving purposes and is often carried out with visual support aids such as measuring devices to help identify, document, and process the photos for later use. As these are three-dimensional objects primarily, multiple shots, from different angles, are used most often.
We take a great deal of pride with our portofolio of captured artefacts spaning a long history across millenia and wide geographical footprint, including objects and antiquities from: China, India, Thailand, Nepal, Ethiopia, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Romania.
